McLean, Va.- Science Applications International Corp. (NYSE: SAIC) announced today that it was awarded a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) mentor-protégé agreement with the Department of the Army Office of Small Business Programs.

Under the three-year agreement, SAIC will assist RLM Communications, Inc., a small, service-disabled veteran-owned business located in Spring Lake, North Carolina, with the maturation of RLM’s business development and proposal processes, and to support administrative activities.

“We are excited to work together to develop RLM’s internal processes, which will ultimately improve their access to new work within the DoD,” said John Gully, SAIC senior vice president and general manager of the Army and Air Force Customer Group. “We are proud to help RLM achieve its goals to become a greater asset to the Army and the DoD.”

According to the agreement, SAIC will also partner with Fayetteville State University, a Historically Black College and University, to conduct joint research activities and provide subject matter expertise in engineering, cybersecurity, and management services to assist RLM with the formation of a Cybersecurity and Intelligence Center of Excellence.

RLM Communications primarily provides command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, information, surveillance and reconnaissance support services to customers within defense, government, and commercial industries. It currently has employees in thirteen states and multiple international locations where employees support either the DoD or a government entity.

“RLM Communications is honored to be selected by SAIC as a partner in this mentor-protégé program,” said Randy Moore, RLM president and CEO. “As a small business, we look forward to broadening our proposal opportunities and enhancing our technical capabilities to better service our primary customer, the DoD.”

The Army’s mentor-protégé program encourages prime contractors to team with small businesses to enhance their capabilities to support the Army’s mission. By aligning with prime contractors, small businesses can increase their participation in federal contracts and establish long-term relationships with prime contractors.
