HARTFORD, Conn., — Eight hundred Hartford families in need will receive enough food to supplement meals for a week plus daily essentials, thanks to a partnership between PepsiCo and Feed the Children. The event kicks off at 11:00a.m. EST at Xfinity Theatre, 61 Savitt Way, Hartford, Ct.

This is the seventh year PepsiCo and Feed the Children have partnered to help feed families in Hartford, where more than 37 percent of the population lives below the poverty line[1]. This distribution event is part of a larger initiative between the two organizations to help feed communities in cities throughout the United States.

The receiving families have been identified and preselected by Community Renewal Team, a Hartford-based not-for-profit organization that helps individuals and families access resources that will help meet immediate and longer-term needs, improve job skills, maintain or increase their independence, stabilize living situations, and achieve educational goals.

“All of us at Community Renewal Team are thrilled to be able to help with this wonderful annual event sharing food and essentials with hundreds of families from throughout the Greater Hartford area,” said Lena Rodriguez, President and CEO of Community Renewal Team. “We’re proud to work with Feed the Children and PepsiCo to make this day a huge success.”

“We’re excited to partner with Feed the Children, Community Renewal Team and Price Rite helping our friends and neighbors in the Hartford community,” said Victoria South, account manager, northeast region sales, PepsiCo’s Frito-Lay division. “Frito-Lay and PepsiCo are committed to giving back to our communities where we live and work, and providing enough food to supplement meals for a week is a small way we can help make a difference.”

Each qualifying recipient at today’s event will be given:

One 25-pound box of nonperishable food items
One 15-pound box of personal-care items
One box of AVON products
One 20-count bag of Frito-Lay Better-For-You snacks
