INDUSTRY OVERVIEW:
Chemistry is essential to our everyday lives and the economy. The business of chemistry transforms the natural raw materials of the earth, sea and air into products that we use everyday; it also drives innovation and creates jobs and economic growth by creating products that bring major societal benefits to quality of life, health, productivity, convenience and safety.
The science and materials of chemistry make the lives of Americans and others throughout the world healthier, safer, and more sustainable and more productive. Indeed, our food, safe water supply, clothing, shelter, health care, computer technology, clean energy sources, transportation and every other facet of modern life, all depend upon the business of chemistry.
Not only is the business of chemistry essential to the economy for the jobs it generates through its business activities, it is essential to the economy through its products. More than $700 billion of chemistry products flow through the economy each year. The products of chemistry are present in some form in nearly every facet of the American economy. In fact, over 96 percent of all manufactured goods are directly touched by chemistry. Industries consume products made by other industries that have large chemical inputs, i.e., plastics, rubber, synthetic textiles, and components using these materials. A significant amount of the chemistry use in many products comes from packaging. Chemistry is also essential to the American standard of living.
Companies in this industry transform organic and inorganic raw materials by a chemical process and formulate products. Major companies in the US include Dow, DuPont, and Pfizer. Major companies outside the US include BASF (Germany), Formosa Plastics (Taiwan), Roche (Switzerland), SABIC (Saudi Arabia), and Sinopec Group (China).
The global chemical manufacturing industry remains at about $5 trillion annually, according to Statista. China, the US, Ireland, Germany, and Belgium produce the most chemicals and also are among the largest importers of chemicals, according to Global Newswire.
The US chemical manufacturing industry includes about 14,000 establishments (single-location companies and units of multi-location companies) with combined annual revenue of about $740 billion.

There are so many beneficial and non-beneficial issues from what others have used over the years. as a report in the medical journal that says ” Since the development of the chemical industry in the nineteenth century, chemistry has contributed to the deterioration of the environment but has also helped to reduce pollution. The gifts of the scientist’s research through open communication are what sustain the growth of knowledge. Secrecy is an anathema to the health and progress of science. The ideal of open communication based on the concept of the gift economy is more problematic, particularly when commercial interests are involved,” We will input into these companies and what they do, it does not go unseen, there is always a reckoning. There have complained of what chemical and companies that uses these toxic formulas can do to the environment and to its people. Toxic corruption is an issue as stated in a report in 2017″ Beck has been instrumental in backtracking EPA positions on the adverse health impacts of more than a dozen hazardous chemicals while effectively chipping away at key environmental laws, exposing millions of Americans to more cancer-causing chemicals in our food, water, and products.
Unsurprisingly then, the EPA has proposed excluding from consideration the potential harm caused by chemical exposure through the air, ground, or water. Instead, only direct contact will be used to determine a chemical’s threat level–particularly endangering vulnerable populations such as pregnant women, children, seniors, workers, and those with chronic diseases. According to the Environmental Defense Fund, the EPA’s proposed new risk analysis won’t take into account an estimated 68 million pounds a year of chemical emissions”

The chemical industry has certainly played a major role in advancing our civilization with products that make our lives easier. However, we must not fail to acknowledge the Impact of irresponsible products that leave us with devastating side effects and very negative consequences for our health. It’s either the products themselves or the disposal of the waste from such processes. With the entire world divided as to whether the science of climate change is legitimate or not, what is the possible way forward ….

I had a divine revelation which led me to start an oil product for hair. Unfortunately, I have not received much support from the Body of Christ. People will take my samples and use them, but they will not make a purchase. They would rather patronize the products of big beauty companies. It is so discouraging when the support you need is not there.

Sister Sandra
1. I saw a news post warning women about the harmful effect of using synthetic hair extensions.
It is alleged that these synthetic hairs contain harmful chemicals that are causing ailments mostly
among African women since they are the consumers of these products. Many of us as African
women don’t have options when it comes to beauty products so we are compelled to use
artificial and synthetic products. Even when we go for the so-called human hairs, they also come
with many problems. The question becomes whose hair are you carrying?
Most of these beauty companies lack compassion in their works. They are driven by the desire
only to make money hence will use any chemical in their product once they can maximize
profit. This is the danger our society faces today. I once worked with a beauty supply company
that used pure, organic ingredients to manufacture their products. However this company was
acquired by a bigger company and they ended up changing the ingredients in the product
2. Some companies claim to be engaged in the recycling of plastic waste and yet end up dumping
these plastic materials into the ocean. They take the money meant for recycling but don’t do their
job. This attitude of profiting in our world eventually hurts all of us and the planet.
